(Nothing But) Flowers is a photographic series that documents an intervention in the ugliness of aggressive gentrification / displacement by San Francisco’s tech class. During 2018, I inscribed a florid, deadpan language on 85 discarded mattresses — a call for beauty at a time when the Bay Area was beginning to sink under the weight of its own dirt. The process was simple: imagine a world I wanted to see, stencil the language of that world onto found mattresses, and shoot. Keeping with the logic of urban environmental preservation, no mattresses were moved from their unnatural habitat nor were their immediate surroundings tampered with.

All photos shot on iPhone 6.
